Many people have heard of the term “franchise” but what exactly is a franchise? Basically, it gives the right to an individual – or a group – to market the goods or services from a specific company in a specific area. There are many franchises around the globe, with some of the best known ones being Subway, Domino’s Pizza, UPS and McDonald’s. It isn’t just fast food that can be franchised, however. There are 120 different franchises available today. Some of these include health and fitness, cleaning, the automotive industry, children related franchises and so on.

How Does It Work
So how does a franchise work? Basically, you purchase and run a franchise, which makes you a franchisee. The company you purchase your franchise from is a franchisor. There are rules and guidelines that you have to follow as a franchisee, which have been established by the franchisor. There are costs involved above and beyond the initial investment, mainly the royalty fee that you will have to pay on a yearly basis. (more…)
